The Trivial URC Scenario

In the x-dns-2 approach to URN resolution, browsers are encouraged to support URCs being returned as HTML, or plain text as a last resort. There is however, an associated URC format[39], which may be used to return the results of a URN lookup in a form suitable for automatic processing.

This trivial syntax for URCs allows multiple URLs to be associated with a single URN, each with associated meta-information. It also provides a way for URC authors to indicate the language and character set of each URL.

Here is the sample URC from the previous section, expressed using the trivial syntax:
